The Sweaty Hands Syndrome

Do you suffer from the secretion of bodily fluid through your palms due to the terror of facing a job interview? If you do, this post might be for you. It may save your life.

Okay, not really–but it’ll definitely feel like it will be! Let’s call this problem the “Sweaty Hands Syndrome.” Guess what–everyone has some form of it; so don’t feel ashamed. It’s understandable: you’re nervous as you wait to be called for your interview, and you’re not sure what to expect. One of the body’s natural responses to fear is the sweaty palms. Does it help anything? No. It just alerts you to the fact that you’re scared to death. We can suppose that it’s important to know that.

But how do you get rid of this Sweaty Hands Syndrome? You want to ace that interview, wow the prospective employer, and Lord knows showing off that your nervous can’t help you! The first impression is everything. So what do you do?

Keep in mind this important thing: if you’ve been called for an interview, the fact is they already like you!–they just want to know more about you! So if you’re wanting to handle an interview well, simply be “yourself.” Moreover, if you had already sent in a resume (and extra points for a cover letter, too), 95% of your work on the interview has already been done. If you hadn’t sent one, yet, bring one with you! Once all the relevant information is there for the prospective employer, the rest of the interview will simply be about casual questions, a conversation. Simple as that.

You can beat the Sweaty Hands Syndrome. Don’t be nervous. Let your experience do the talking.
